How do Pulse settings work for ‘Away’ and ‘Pause notifications’ in Slack?
Set yourself as ‘away’ in Slack
When you set a custom away message in Pulse this status is automatically pushed to your Slack status and visible to your teammates.
Separate from your custom status, you may notice that the dot next to your name in Slack is showing a green ‘active‘ dot. In Pulse, you can configure to make this dot automatically show as ‘away.‘ When your custom status expires or is manually cleared, the dot in Slack will also resume to ‘active’.
To configure this:
1.). Navigate to the Pulse ‘sharing settings’
2.) Under App Integration, click on Slack
3.) Checkmark the ‘Set my Slack status as away in Slack
Pause Slack notifications
While you have a custom status set in Pulse, you may also configure to have your Slack notifications paused. If ‘Pause Slack notifications‘ is check-marked in Pulse Settings, your Slack status will display ‘notifications paused’ and the notifications from your teammates will not be delivered until your Pulse status is expired, or cleared.
